Our mission
We believe that everyone has a role to play in addressing the high unemployment rate in our country. Our way of getting involved is by connecting with people in our townships, who have creative solutions that make their day-to-day lives better. Through resourcefulness and innovation, they have developed businesses that have built a township economy worth billions of rands. From food to fashion to barbershops to shishanyamas up the road and more, our vision is to support businesses ekasi because the more people buy ekasi, the more communities can thrive.
Look around and you’ll find kasi businesses are more than shops lining the street or vendors by the roadside. They are the beating heart of our community, representing the true spirit of hard work, ambition and entrepreneurship. A thriving kasi economy is not just a vision, it’s a tangible reality that touches every aspect of our lives – creating employment, increasing spending power and contributing an immense R900 billion towards the South African economy.
What we’ve been up to
We went to break bread on the ground as sponsors at the Soweto Kota Festivals. By tapping into an event that celebrates local culture through food, Kas’lam is playing an important role in keeping businesses eKasi growing. We even added some flavour of our own with a booth that promised more monate for the people with photo ops, charging stations and prizes.
