    Undergraduate requirements

    Current, full-time Actuarial Science students (SA citizens) who are in their first, second or third year of studies, with a demonstrated academic ability and a willingness to succeed.

    • Academic results with: Full academic transcripts Proof of registration and/or Fee Statement Copy of matric certificate

    • Copy of ID

    • Comprehensive CV focusing on Academics, Extra-mural activities and Leadership skills

    • A motivation letter, written in your own words, that answer the following questions: Describe what an actuary does? Why do you want to study actuarial science? Why do you believe you have what it takes to become an actuary? Why should Sanlam choose you to be a bursary holder? If you are not successful at becoming an actuary, what other career paths are you considering?

    Matric student requirements

    If you’re great at maths, enjoy solving complex problems, and can remain disciplined through years of studying and training, then you are who we’re looking for. Final grade 12 results may be used as determining factor.
    Documents required with application
    • Academic result with: Final Grade 11 results  Grade 12 mid-year results  NBT results

    • An above 90% score in Mathematics and an overall A aggregate

    • Comprehensive CV focussing on academics, extra-mural activities and leadership skills

    • A motivation letter, written in your own words, that answer the following questions: Describe what an actuary does? Why do you want to study actuarial science? Why do you believe you have what it takes to become an actuary? Why should Sanlam choose you to be a bursary holder? If you are not successful at becoming an actuary, what other career paths are you considering?

    How to apply

    Note: You can apply from the 1st of April to the 30th of June every year

    We only accept online applications submitted with the required documentation. Bursaries are awarded on merit and in accordance with Sanlam’s employment equity plan.
